Prof Stephen Adei Reveals Interesting Secrets About Prof Naana Agyemang, Calls her a Great Leader


Professor Steven Adei has described the running mate of Mr John Mahama as a good listener and a great leader. In an interview on 3FM’s morning show on Friday, the renouned Professor recounted his encounter with Professor Naana Opoku Agyemang during her interview as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast. According to him, the John Dramani Mahama’s running mate performed excellently at the interview which he served as the Chairman of the 8 member panel.

Touching on her academic credentials, Prof Adei described the former Minister of Education as both an Academic and Intellectual. “As far as her academic credentials are concerned, I have the opportunity of observing her at very close quarters. Prof Naana Opoku Agyemang is both an Academic and Intellectual. You can be an Academic without being Intellectual, but as far as she is concerned, I can confidently describe her as both Academic and Intellectual”, he said. Professor Steven Adei also described the newly appointed running mate of Mr Mahama as not only an English and French scholar but a great Historian in her own right. He touched on her research works on slave trade in Northern Ghana, describing her works in the area as excellent.

Speaking on the private life of Prof Naana Opoku Agyemang, he said, ” she is a very likable person who do not only speak her mind but also a very good listener”.

“Someone who have ran a University is no mean an achievement. I will say she she is qualified for the position she has been appointed to occupy”, he added.

Professor Addai again touted the convention of Polytechnics to Technical Universities as one of her contributions at the policy level. He also revealed that as a former Minister of Education, Prof Naana was working on a project that was intended to change the face of University education in Ghana before her exit. He noted the project was expected to lead to the categorisation of the various Universities in the country into Research Universities;Research and Teaching Universities; Teaching Universities and Universities purely dedicated to adult education.

“Before and after what I saw during her interview as the Vice Chancellor of Universty Cape Coast, I have no hesitation to say that she is a leader”, he concluded.
