KNUST Basic School temporarily shut down

The KNUST Basic School has been temporarily shut down, 3news can confirm.

The school was shut down as a result of the strike action declared last month by the Senior Staff Association of University of Ghana (SSAUoG).

The senior staff began their strike action on Tuesday, May 18 following complaints that government has failed to address their concerns.

The action was extended last week with a task force deployed to ensure that members comply with the decision by the National Executive Council (NEC).

On Monday, June 7, 3new’s Ibrahim Abubakar reported that the KNUST Basic School looks like an abandoned facility as there are no trace of teachers and students on campus.

Reports are that the staff have been hounded by the task force from reporting to work due to the nationwide strike.

This has forced a decision to allow the students to stay home until a time when the strike is suspended or called off.
