GIFEC SUPPORTS AHAFOMAN BASIC SCHOOL WITH A CYBER-LAB.

As part of the Government’s agenda to mainstream Information Communication Technology (ICT) as a tool for Ghana’s development, the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has donated 10 desktop computers and UPS to Ahafoman Junior high school to support their teaching and learning.

According to the Middle Zonal Manager of GIFEC; Mr. Arnold Johnson, the ministry through GIFEC has donated 920 desktop computers with accessories like UPS, projectors, printers and scanners to overs 74 schools across the zonal jurisdiction (Ahafo, Bono and Bono East Regions) between November 2018 and August 2020.
He identified Holy Family Nursing Schools (Berekum and Techiman) Goaso Midwifery, Ntotroso Nursing College, Yeji Nursing training school, Akrofrom RC, Acherensua SHS, and many other Junior High Schools as beneficiaries to the program – School Connectivity Project.

He added that a team of IT experts from GIFEC will continue to provide technical support to the school for two years to ensure the effective use of the computers.
Adding to that, Mr. Ransford Yeboah Bae and Mr. Allen Kefa Gyimah – GIFEC Nabco Staff pledge their readiness to support the maintenance of the computers and the training of the teachers of the school to better their deliver their skill.

The Headmaster, Mr. Gabriel Barasu expressed his profound gratitude to GIFEC for the kind gesture. He said GIFEC’s intervention comes as a huge relief for school authorities and the parents.
He also said, he is hopeful the gesture would help improve the performance of students in ICT related subjects.
Miss Elizabeth Dzifa Barasu also pleaded with the school authorities and students to prioritize the security of the computers as they promote the usage by the student for teaching and learning purposes.
