COVID-19: Free transport for Frontline Health Workers withdrawn

0

Contrary to claims by the President that frontline health worker will be provided with transport throughout the period of fighting against the deadly Corona, a memo sighted by MyNewsGh.om indicates that the gesture will end today.

The President during his fifth update on the measures taken by the government to contain the deadly coronavirus said the Transport Ministry will be providing free transport for health workers in locked-down areas in the country as the government battles the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the ‘Aayalolo’ buses will convey health workers in Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Kasoa to and from work, along specific routes, for the entire duration of the restrictions imposed by the President.

But a memo sighted by MyNewsGh.com at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital indicates that the intervention by government will end today.

The Memo said developments are being monitored and if government truly ends the service the KATH buses will be made available to transport the staff.
